Silver Rakhi Buying Guide: 925 Sterling Silver, Designs and Care

A silver Rakhi is a Rakhi that uses a silver design element or charm as part of the Rakhi itself. At Mokshay, the silver component of our applicable silver Rakhi products is made from 925 sterling silver. 925 sterling silver contains 92.5% silver, with the remaining portion made up of other metals that are added to improve strength and everyday usability.

This guide explains what that means in practice, how the different Rakhi types differ from one another, what to look for before buying, and how to care for a silver Rakhi so it lasts well beyond Raksha Bandhan.

What is a 925 sterling silver Rakhi?

925 sterling silver is a silver alloy. It is 92.5% silver, and the balance is other metals. Pure silver on its own is very soft, so the alloy is used to give jewellery enough strength to be worn and handled. This is the standard material used for silver jewellery worldwide, and it is what Mokshay uses for the silver elements of its applicable Rakhi products.

It is worth being clear about what is and is not silver in a Rakhi. A Rakhi is a composite item. The silver design element or charm is the silver part. The thread, stones, enamel work, tassels and packaging are separate materials chosen for colour, texture and finish. They are not silver, and we do not describe them as silver. Bead materials vary by product and are stated on the individual product page.

Two of our designs use sterling silver beads braided into the Rakhi rather than a single central charm. In those products the beads themselves are sterling silver, and the cotton moli thread, the Rudraksha bead where present, and the tassels are not.

What should you check before buying a silver Rakhi?

Silver Rakhi listings vary a great deal between sellers. These are the things worth checking on any product page, ours or anyone else's.

An accurate material description

A good listing tells you which part is silver and which parts are not. Be cautious of listings that describe an entire Rakhi as silver without distinguishing the charm from the thread and other components.

Clear product photographs

Look for photographs that show the charm closely enough to see the detailing, and at least one image showing the complete Rakhi including the thread and any tassels. If the design includes enamel or stones, the images should make that visible.

The recipient and the design type

Rakhi, Lumba Rakhi and Bhaiya-Bhabhi sets are different things intended for different people. Check which one a listing is actually offering before you buy. The next section explains the difference.

What is included in the package

Inclusions differ between products. Check the individual product page rather than assuming a standard set.

An authenticity certificate

Check whether the seller provides one, who issues it, and what it actually confirms. We explain ours below.

Adjustable fit, where stated

Some designs are adjustable and some are not. Where a product is adjustable, the product page says so. If fit matters for the person you are buying for, check that line specifically.

Seller contact and return information

Before ordering, check that the seller provides a clear contact method and an understandable return policy. Ours is set out further down this page.

Rakhi, Lumba Rakhi and Bhaiya-Bhabhi Rakhi set: what is the difference?

These three terms are often used loosely online, which causes a lot of confusion at the point of purchase.

Rakhi

A Rakhi is traditionally tied on a brother's wrist. It is a wrist-worn thread with a design element or charm.

Lumba Rakhi

A Lumba Rakhi is traditionally intended for a Bhabhi. It is commonly made in a decorative hanging or tassel form rather than as a plain wrist band, and is traditionally tied to the bangle rather than around the wrist.

Bhaiya-Bhabhi Rakhi set

A Bhaiya-Bhabhi Rakhi set contains two pieces: a wrist Rakhi for the Bhaiya and a matching Lumba Rakhi for the Bhabhi. If a listing describes a set, it should contain both pieces.

A single Lumba Rakhi is not a Bhaiya-Bhabhi set. Our Lotus Zircon Bhabhi Lumba Rakhi, for example, is a single Bhabhi Lumba Rakhi and is sold as one piece, not as a two-piece set. If you are buying for both a brother and a Bhabhi, look specifically for a set.

Choosing a design

Our silver Rakhi range falls into a few broad customer-facing categories. Which one suits you depends mostly on who you are buying for.

Spiritual designs

These include Om, Ganesha, Shivalinga-Trishul, Shri Ram and Hanuman designs. They are usually chosen where the recipient has a particular attachment to that form.

Morpankh designs

Morpankh, or peacock feather, designs are associated with Krishna and are a long-standing motif in Indian decorative work. We offer Morpankh in both a threaded Rakhi and a chain bracelet form.

Shree Radha Tilak

The Shree Radha Tilak design features the Radha Tilak, associated with Premanand Maharaj Ji. It is chosen by customers with a devotional connection to Shree Radha.

Infinity and contemporary designs

Infinity loops, charms and minimal geometric forms suit recipients who prefer something understated that can be worn as an everyday bracelet after Raksha Bandhan.

Kids' designs

Our kids' range includes Dinosaur, Elephant and Teddy designs in playful, brightly coloured forms intended for children.

Bhaiya-Bhabhi sets and Bhabhi Lumba Rakhi

Choose a Bhaiya-Bhabhi set where you want two matching pieces, and a Bhabhi Lumba Rakhi where you want a single piece for a Bhabhi.

Rakhi bracelets

Some of our designs are made as bracelets rather than traditional threads, which makes them easier to continue wearing after the festival.

A note on Rudraksha

Several of our designs incorporate a Rudraksha bead. Rudraksha is traditionally believed to symbolize spiritual protection, peace and strength. This is a traditional cultural belief and is offered here as context for the design, not as a claim about what the product will do.

What is included with a Mokshay Rakhi?

Inclusions vary by product. Depending on the listing, a product may include:

• Roli-Chawal
• A Raksha Bandhan greeting card
• A Mokshay authenticity certificate
• Gift-ready packaging or a potli

Not every product includes every item on this list. The Product Details section on each product page states the exact inclusions for that product, and that is the accurate source to rely on.

What does the Mokshay authenticity certificate confirm?

The authenticity certificate is issued by Mokshay. It confirms that the applicable product is made from 925 sterling silver.

It is a Mokshay-issued authenticity certificate, not an independent laboratory assay report. It confirms the material used but does not claim independent third-party testing.

Domestic delivery across India is free. Orders are dispatched in 1–2 business days.

Returns

Rakhi products are non-returnable.

If a product is received damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied, Mokshay reviews the case and may issue a refund. Please contact support@mokshay.com with your order details and photographs. Each case is reviewed individually, and contacting us does not by itself guarantee that a refund will be approved.

Warranty in brief

Every Mokshay silver product carries a warranty valid for one year from the date of purchase. It covers silver polishing and re-polishing service only.

The warranty excludes structural damage, dents, breakage and stone loss, and it excludes damage caused by accident, misuse or negligence. Courier charges for warranty service are paid by the customer. The original warranty certificate and proof of purchase are required, and the warranty is non-transferable. How to care for a silver Rakhi

A silver Rakhi is a composite item, so the safest care approach protects the silver without damaging the thread, stones or enamel around it.

• Store it clean and dry.
• Keep it separately, in a soft pouch or a closed box, rather than loose with other jewellery.
• Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
• Avoid direct contact with perfume, cosmetics and harsh household chemicals.
• Avoid unnecessary moisture.
• Do not scrub stones, enamel, threads, tassels or any glued components.
• Contact us before using a chemical silver cleaner or attempting any aggressive polishing at home.
• For eligible polishing or re-polishing, use the warranty service channel rather than treating the piece yourself.

Silver reacts naturally with air and moisture over time, and we will not claim that tarnish will never occur. Careful storage slows it down considerably, and our polishing service exists for exactly this reason.
